Life as a farmer can be hard. Most people don't realize when they purchase from a supermarket at a low, low price, the supermarket gets a big cut. There's also many other fees involved, and in return the farmers get next to nothing. Wholesale price is never as good as retail.
The farmers market was created to build relationships between customers and farmers, allowing the community to purchase directly from the farmers without a middle person (or many middle persons) taking a chunk out of what belongs to hard-working farmers.
Most farmers are farming not because they want to become millionaires, they're just passionate about providing good food for their family and the community.
Please shop local, reach out to your farmers and support them directly, any way you can.
