August is peak season for just about everything at the farmers market! This is the perfect time of year to try new recipes and experiment with the huge variety of produce grown in southeastern Minnesota.
One of the highlights of Minnesota farmers markets this time of year is sweet corn. Look for cobs with brown, dried silk at the ends and plump kernels. You can store your corn in the fridge with the husks intact – no bags or airtight containers needed! Pro tip: After cutting kernels off corn cobs (good frozen for up to a year), use the cobs to make vegetable stock.
